Mike McEnery CD “Where the Current Takes Me” is now available

Trop Rock Singer / Songwriter Mike McEnery has released his first full length album “Where the Current Takes Me” which includes a mix of new and previously released material. It features six singles that have charted on Trop Rock radio stations and which receive frequent radio airplay.

The new tracks include Getaway, a Trop-Pop gem featuring a world-class steel pan performance by Quincy Yeates, and two Trop Rock chart climbing singles, Red Right Returning and Frosty Mug, which were co-written with Dan Sullivan of The DetentionsTRMA Trop Rock Duo of the Year and feature vocals from Chris Hillier and Dan Sullivan.

Remixed singles include Castaways (2016), Where the Current Takes Me (2017) and Tropical Empire (2018), which were previously released under “The Jumbo Shrimp Band” and “Mike McEnery and The Jumbo Shrimp Band.”

The CD could be considered the archetypal Trop Rock album with lots of tunes about boats, beaches, fishing and beer, but it goes well beyond that dimension by providing an exceptional amount of variety. Instrumentation ranges from violin, saxophone and trumpet to accordion, harmonica and steel guitar. Styles range from reggae to old-time country to rock. Vibes range from mellow acoustic ballads to catchy pop numbers to bluesy rock guitar solos.

Credits on the album include award winning songwriter and Radio Margaritaville DJ Matt Hoggatt (co-writer of Castaways); founding members of legendary Trop Rock pathfinders The Phins Band, Jerry Turnbow (Co-producer of Castaways) and Mark “Catfish” Vesser (harmonica on multiple tracks); jazz saxophone artist Jim Stevens (Turn Three); and Florida steel drum master Barry Olsavsky (Out on the Sea.)

Radio stations that have featured Mike McEnery’s songs in their Top Song Lists include Radio A1A, Tikipod Radio, Tiki Man Radio, Beach Front Radio and Shore Life Radio.
