The Shrimpers will be taking a little time for rest and relaxation, work on solo/side projects and doing some recording in the studio while we wait for warmer weather.

Speaking of solo work, Mike will be doing a solo show Thursday 12/3/15 at Zydeco Blues in Des Peres with special guest Tom Tierney of FeatherStone Drive.

Jumbo Shrimp in Action 11/13/14
Larry Vandiver’s new group Mars Needs Guitars has been recording tracks for their upcoming CD…….Marc Torlina and Johnny Downstairs performed an all originals gig at Stone Spiral last week and plan to make it a reoccurring event…….Mark “Catfish” Vesser wrapped up work in the studio with Jerry Turnbow and friends on a very personal project and plans to it have ready to go in a few weeks…….Catfish also did some studio work for C.C. Wilson’s recently released CD “Blues as a Second Language”…….While not rollin’ on the river with the band, honorary Shrimp Ron Finn is keeping busy as music editor for the new TV series NCIS New Orleans……And last but not least Rory “Santa Claus” Finn has been raking leaves, which means only one thing – he’s writing the words for his annual Zydeco Christmas masterpiece. Rumor has it that this year’s topic is shrimp gumbo!

A Thank You From The TaTa Sisterhood Foundation 11/3/14
It is rare to find a group of people as nice as the TaTa Sisterhood Foundation. The group provides financial and emotional support to women suffering from Triple Negative Breast Cancer. But they also know how to party! And raise money! Over $20,000 was raised at their MargariTa-Taville event. Here’s their fantastic thank you note to The Jumbo Shrimp Band:
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Wow, you were amazing! It was an absolute blast “wasting away in Margari-TaTa-ville” with all of you. You were the perfect fit for our big bash and you lifted all our hearts with your happy, laid back style. We can’t wait to make Margari-TaTa-ville an annual event and to “waste away” again with the awesome Jumbo Shrimp Band.
Thank you so much for being a special part of a night that was so dear to our hearts.”

October Gigs 10/1/14
The Shrimp only have two gigs left this year that are open to the public. On Saturday 10/12 the Jumbo Shrimp Duo with Mike and Marc will perform on the banks of the Mississippi at the Northshore Marina Boathouse for the St. Louis Parrothead Club’s annual Pirate Party. And then, less than 24 hours later, the Jumbo Shrimp Trio with Rory and Catfish will be at Sugar Creek Winery for our 4th gig there. This is a great time of year to enjoy outdoor music and both venues will provide a great place to enjoy the fall colors at their peak. See you there!!!!

Prepping the shrimp boat for June 5/24/14
The shrimpers are taking some time off from gigs in May for family events, but don’t worry – we’re hard at work getting the Shrimp Boat ready to sail in June. We’re adding some tunes to the set list from Little Feat, Zac Brown Band, and The Ozark Mountain Daredevils. And we’ve got special guests in June including Jerry Turnbow (from Phins, 12 Volt Band, and now Rockin’ Chair) and big brother Ron Finn (Alton native turned LA session guitarist and producer – remember The Ren and Stimpy show?).

Our June gigs:
-The Duo/Trio will be at Yellow Farmhouse Winery in Defiance, MO on 6/7 & 6/8 for their Peel n Eat weekend – a real shrimp fest for sure.
-The full 5-piece Jumbo Shrimp Band will play The Loading Dock in Grafton, IL on 6/14. Calling all Parrot Heads!
-The band will be in Marion, IL will party with the Southern Illinois Parrot Head Club at Rent One Stadium on 6/21/14. Batter Up!

Thank You Note from the United Way of South Central Illinois 3/29/14
United Way of South Central Illinois
To The Jumbo Shrimp Band:
Let me start with – WOW! I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun we had at our Annual Victory Celebration because of YOU! You all were amazing. I loved how you got everyone dancing, playing instruments and interacting with the band on stage. It was great. Everyone stayed for the duration of the event just to hear you. By the end of the evening, we had people ready to buy tickets for next year’s event! This year was the most successful Victory Celebration that we have hosted. From an event coordinator’s perspective, it was an honor to work with such an organized, yet laid back crew. Thanks for everything.
